Leslie Scott

Leslie Scott is the founder and artistic director of BODYART; an LA based multi-media dance Theatre Company. Scott completed her second tour to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to acclaim with THREAD @ Summerhall in 2015. For her evening-length work An Hour About An Hour Ms. Scott won praise from The Scotsman at 2006’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In addition to performing at several New York landmarks such as the Joyce Soho, The Ailey Citigroup Theater, Theater for the New City, The Cunningham Studios, and 3LD Art & Technology Center as part of Reid Farrington residency, and The Dixon Place. A career highlight was BODYART performing at the prestigious Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, Texas. Scott opened BODYART Studio in April 2010. This 1800 sq/ft arts space based in Long Island City, NY provides reduced fee rehearsal space for NYC artists. Scott won praise for her PILLAR program, which places a premium on the creative process, rather than the product, giving free rehearsal space to local Queens based artists. For her work in the Queens community Ms Scott has received funding from the Queens Arts Council. In 2014, Scott started the Decay Project, a dance film residency program that serves as the companys main community engagement program. The third film was just completed in Christchurch New Zealand.
