Giacomo Bottà

Giacomo is a researcher in urban and cultural studies with the Title of Docent in Urban Studies from the University of Helsinki and in Music Research from the University of Tampere. He received a PhD in comparative studies from the Libera Università di Lingue e Comunicazione IULM Milan; his dissertation examined Berlin in German-speaking literature between 1989 and 2000. He published articles on major journals (such as The European Journal of Cultural Studies and Journal of Urban Cultural Studies), book chapters in innovative books (such as Culture and the City and Fight back: Punk, politics and resistance) and edited Unsichtbare Landschaften: Populäre Musik und Räumlichkeit / Invisible Landscapes: Popular Music and Spatiality. He has organized since 2008 the Urban Studies course at the Helsinki Summer School.
